"I purchased my Five Hundred about two months ago, and I am extremely pleased with the car at this point (39k miles...purchased with 36k).
The car is exactly what I want for my all-too-frequent trips out of town (200-mile round trip type drives). It's quiet, comfortable, and exceedingly roomy (leg room in the back is ridiculous, not that that matters in my car, but it's nice for leeches....uh, tag-alongs).
I personally love the CVT transmission in my particular model. It takes some getting used to, but I love that you can step on it, and the RPMs will just stay in the power zone until you get up to your desired speed. I've seen this car described as doggy or underpowered, and I'm just not seeing it. I think it has plenty of pickup and plenty for passing, even if you're doing 80....well, let's say 70...when you start your pass.
It doesn't have some of the nicer accoutrements that more expensive cars have, but it has everything I want for my everday driving (comfort, acceptable....20-25mpg....gas mileage, plenty of pickup for those over 25 years old, and an enormous trunk).
I personally like the styling, but that's a personal issue so is really unimportant. I loved the 300M when it came out, for example. When I drove one, though, I felt like I couldn't see anything. The Five Hundred allows for excellent visibility, and the side mirrors (though larger than I'd have chosen) allow you to see into your blindspot completely on the passenger side and almost entirely on the driver side (but you still better check).
Anyway, I'm very happy with this car, and with the price of it, it pushes it up into 5-star territory, IMHO.
All the best...
Steve"
